The Story of John Young, the Original King of Buffalo Wings

Black History Month is an opportunity to honor and highlight the enormous contributions made by Black and African Americans to this country. One area of great influence is within the culinary landscape. The New York Times recently published an illustrated story about John Young, the original King of Buffalo Wings. What better way to celebrate Black History Month than to learn about how a great sauce recipe was nearly lost and how it is never too late to give credit where credit is due.

His restaurants closed and his glory faded, but a historical reclamation effort is bringing new attention to the secret sauce he perfected.
